Emotional, hairy people have opinions too

Another peer of mine shows interest in celebrity news because it’s interesting and because of the inherent corruption in politics. He, she, or it, states that politicians stretch and embellish their message and that to become that well known, they must have been digging into some pockets, which skews their thinking and motives, and buries their logic and pollutes their mentality.

Another generic interview

Another associate of mine claims that, like many other people, he, she, or it finds politics more interesting because they decides the fate of the country.  This reinforces the notion that people care about the welfare of the country.

Anti-Americans

Some other young people show no apparent interest in politics, because, evidently, they show great disdain for the country.  This makes sense as, they care not about the future of the United States of America.  How many of these people exist is beyond my current knowledge.  I shall have to inquire more.  I attained this knowledge through asking a friend of mine about this subject.

Young People

http://www.vanessavanpetten.com/2008/02/20/5-ways-to-get-teens-interested-in-politics/

This link shows how uninterested teens are in politics. The link shows various techniques in getting younger generations interested in politics. Things such as getting involved, making friends with politics, and making it entertaining show that teens find politics boring and that their peers possess a rather large impact on their thoughts. The fourth technique also suggests that younger generations find politics complex and intimidating.

Teen Enthusiasm

http://www.reflector.com/family/content/gofamily/stories/2008/04/15/alissamain.html

This article states that the political enthusiasm found in high school students is lacking.  The reasons stated for this are that teens believe that they’re in a position in which they are helpless to do anything about the world’s problems and that their voices are not heard.  This stems from the image that politicians give, as old, serious, deceptive individuals.  So, basically, if there’s nothing you can do about something, then why take an interest to it if it’s not inherently interesting?  As accurate as their reasons are, they make sense in this simple context.

“Insignificant political polls”

http://www.fitsnews.com/2008/01/28/the-burning-issues-of-the-day/

This particular news article mocks the political world as “insignificant” and immediately follows into celebrity drivel about Angelina Jolie polluting the human gene pool. This is an indicator that people find politics unlikeable because they think they certain events have no interesting fiber, nor does it pertain to them, whereas celebrity news is, at least, entertaining and funny.

Statistics

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/25/AR2005052501965.html

This article pretty much sums up  a bunch statistics regarding voter turnout.  The most alarming difference is the vast deviations in turnout with age.  Perhaps it’s simple immaturity or a busier lifestyle that diminishes interest in politics?  Or course, this only explains actual action and not interests, as there are people that take more interest to politics, but don’t or cannot vote.  Quite intriguing.

That’s hot.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/77733/low_voter_turnout_paris_hilton_didnt.html

It has been a debate on whether politics and celebrity life can truly mix. I’ve stumbled across this article which supports the standpoint that no, they cannot.  Paris Hilton, despite advocating voting, didn’t vote herself, showing the disinterest of one field in the other.  Of course, this is Paris Hilton we’re talking about, and more evidence will have to be gathered in order to make a fair assessment of the separate spheres of politics and celebrity news.  Overall, it’s a fairly good indication of interest in politics from people like Paris Hilton.

Celebrities juxtaposed with politics

http://www.insidepolitics.org/heard/westreport903.html

Here’s an interesting article about Arnold Schwarzenegger and his rise to the position of governor. The writer claims that celebrities hold certain advantages if they plan on running, using their popularity to effectively raise money and generate media coverage. This shows an inherent interest when it comes to celebrity livelihood. Stars will bring in an impressive amount of attention, showing that much of this interest lies in the fact that a celebrity is running. The reasoning behind this, however, is still shrouded in mystery.

Another Interview

This is from another personal peer. He, she, or it, is laid back and doesn’t really show emotion to anything. The interviewee shows apathy towards both politics and celebrity news, mostly due to the inability to get involved with either. The subject also shows disdain for people who take advantage of democracy and refuse to get involved. In the bigger picture, he she or it considers politics very interesting and important, and that it’s important to know what’s going on, even if the American citizen isn’t interested in it.

Due to the size of the interview log, it will not be implemented through HTML. It can be viewed here.
